The summer season is getting hotter and livelier at the Pointe!
The sun has been beaming and this has certainly contributed to the success of Pointe-du-Moulin’s summer activities. The latest events have seen an increase in patronage from the last seasons, with over one thousand visitors coming to appreciate the hundred vintage antique cars present for the July 2nd expo. Nadia Furer, Event and Promotions coordinator for the site, proudly announced that «on top of the amazing and diverse cars on the site, visitors were able to enjoy the warm temperature in a carriage ride, discover the canoe-making trade, savour some of the Miller’s wife’s delicious molasses cookies, try their skills in our archery range or just benefit from the free kayak and canoe rentals at the Club Nautique de NDIP.»
July 16th was a day dedicated to the areas’ families that gave them the chance to discover the site through the Games from yesterday to today event. Children of all ages and their parents were able to attend puppet shows and puppet making workshops, release their competitive spirit in relay races, treat themselves with candy from the piñata, participate in bingo matches and leave with one of many prizes.
The July 30th event, Delights at the Twilight, pleased the crowds at the Pointe with pizza cooked in an ancestral wood stove, Zumba lessons, wilderness survival courses, scary stories by the fireside and an adventure film in the great outdoors.
Summer is far from over for the guests at the park, with a number of great events coming up. On August 13th, the Pointe-du-Moulin team invites everyone to a Night of animation and camping under the constellations, where mysterious tales and fantastic legends will come to life by the fireside. A nighttime treasure hunt, stargazing and camping under the starry sky are also on the menu for the evening, and it promises to be one of the most exciting events of the summer. For those wishing to camp at the Pointe on that night, it is important to reserve your spot as soon as possible, as spaces are limited. A camping site is 30$ and includes a breakfast served in the Miller’s house the next morning. (A maximum of 2 tents, and 6 people, per camp site, please contact Véronique Leduc to reserve at (514-453-5936).
Pointe-du-Moulin’s traditional corn fest is back again on August 20th, the event known as A blast of flavour from the past, where free corn on the cob will be available to all visitors. Numerous local producers from the region will also be present with samples of their products to taste and buy. Pastries, breads, wines, beers, meats, cheeses, fruits, maple products and many, many more samples will be there to delight your taste buds! Furthermore, a pie contest between the municipalities of Vaudreuil-Soulanges will take place throughout the day. For families, a number of fun activities will be available, including a treasure hunt which is sure to please all, big and small.
The 9th of September will see the third edition of the renowned casino soirée take place, where those present will be able to Bet on the Pointe at a number of poker, blackjack and roulette tables. Over 600 prizes will be taken home by some 170 guests, and delicious entrées and an orchestra will entertain the crowd between bets. Tickets are now on sale for this event, but are selling fast!
In the event of rain, some of the activities will still be held, while others might be postponed to the Sunday, or cancelled. It is important to consult the website at www.pointedumoulin.com for the latest information on the events.
