It’s the perfect time to layer up and head outdoors to enjoy the crisp air with winter sports, like fatbiking. Fans of the sport won’t be disappointed by the region’s options. Parc national des Îles-de-Boucherville, Boucherville

Forget the daily grind and take in the laid-back atmosphere and stunning landscapes of this park, located just a few kilometres from Montréal, in the middle of the St. Lawrence River. You can go fatbiking along l’Île Sainte-Marguerite’s easy, 7-km trail—and even see a few animals, if you’re lucky! The path is just perfect for families and those who want to give the sport a whirl. On-site rental is available if you book by phone at least 24 hours in advance.

Parc national du Mont-Saint-Bruno, Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville

Parc national du Mont-Saint-Bruno is also just a few kilometres outside the Greater Montréal area. The pure mountain air and fresh scents of the forest will start working their magic from the moment you arrive. Choose from 5 different intermediate and advanced fatbike-friendly trails for a total of 13 kilometres. From January 5 to March 4, 2022, the park is open to cyclists on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings until 9 p.m. On-site rental is available at the Centre de découvertes et de services when you phone at least 24 hours in advance.

Sentiers de L’escapade, Rigaud

Les Sentiers de L’escapade are 27 km of marked cross-country skiing, hiking and fatbiking trails that wind throughout mont Rigaud and the surrounding forest. The Clé des Bois, Foulée du Cerf and Haut-Lieu trails are just perfect for both beginner and experienced cyclists. Whether you’re with friends, family or that special someone, there’s a trail for you. You may even get a chance to spot local wildlife, like the white-tailed deer!

Parc les Salines, Saint-Hyacinthe

This Saint-Hyacinthe park has 17 km of trails and 3 km of wooded areas for fatbiking fun.The trails are open both day and night, but be sure to come equipped with lights for the unlit paths. That said, one of the great things about fatbiking at Parc les Salines is that their cross-country trails stay lit until 11 p.m. Before you set off on your snowy ride, download the ONDAGO app for access to the trail maps at all times. This activity is just perfect for enjoying the great outdoors with friends and family! Please note that fatbike rental is not available on-site.

Parc régional de Beauharnois-Salaberry, Beauharnois

You only have to drive less than an hour from Montréal to marvel at the breathtaking scenery of the Parc régional de Beauharnois-Salaberry. Located in the heart of the Beauharnois-Salaberry tourist region, this park is the perfect place for winter sports, including fatbiking. Ride along the O Ti-Bois trails (entrance: Rue Beaulac) and immerse yourself in the enchanting outdoor surroundings. The Parc’s 8 km of trails are ideal for families and first timers! Fatbike rental is available at certain local bike shops.
