The essentials - Tips and practical informations

It’s done. You’ve made the decision to discover the Montérégie region by bike. But where to start? Here’s some useful information for your planning. If you have any questions, please contact us at info@monteregie.ca.

Parking

Three long-term parking lots are available, two of which are free.

  • Vieux-Saint-Jean — Free

The P17 and P18 free parking lots are close to the cycling trails. See map.

  • Quartier DIX30 — Free

You can get a free sticker from the Bureau du tourisme de la Montérégie during business hours. The employee at the front desk will advise you on the exact location where you can park your vehicle.

  • Îles-de-Boucherville National Park — access fee

From Grosbois Island, located in Îles-de-Boucherville National Park, you can take your bike aboard a river shuttle to get to Boucherville, where the La Riveraine Trail is located. Stretching along the river, it can take you north to Sorel (shoulder of the Route Verte-Route 132), or south to the intersection with Route Verte 1. See information and schedules for the river shuttle.

River shuttles

River shuttles are located along the river and connect directly with the Montérégie cycling network. A great alternative to your vehicle. Find them here.

Accommodations

For multi-day trips, book one or more nights somewhere that has accommodations for cyclists. Check out the list of certified “cyclists welcome!” accommodations. If your desired location is not on the list, call directly for options.

Ride with GPS application

All Montérégie cycling circuits and trails can be found on the Ride with GPS application. In addition to planning your route and stops, the app will show you where repair shops are located if needed, as well as informing you of your mileage, the road topography and nearby amenities.

Turnkey packages

Many packages are offered by Vélo Québec Voyages, including accommodations and luggage transportation. Find them here.

Bike rentals, luggage transportation, shuttles and ferries

The company Voyager à vélo offers bike rentals, in addition to the option of transporting your luggage or vehicle from point A to point B. Consult their website for all the information and rates. Whether it’s a customized itinerary or a loop posted on our website, feel free to contact them to plan your trip. It’s their specialty!
