Fromagerie au Gré des champs is a small local cheese factory that promotes organic products, respects the environment and prioritizes animal welfare. All of their cheeses have their own distinct taste and texture! The most popular ones include Carignan-Salières, Gré des Champs, D’Iberville, Péningouin, Pont Blanc, Monnoir, Frère Chasseur and Adjudant. Their 30 Brown Swiss cows can graze in Ecocert Canada-certified organic pastures that are free of pesticides, chemical fertilizers and GMOs. Pop by the shop to pick up some of their delicious cheese. Located between rivière Richelieu and the Canal, the 20-km Chambly Canal multipurpose trail is a safe place to walk, run, bike or hike with your pup. It connects Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu to Chambly and starts at Lock No. 9. At this historical site, boats can get from the Canal to the river in just a few minutes. It’s a peaceful spot for a quiet stroll. You might even see a heron bathing in the Richelieu. The hundreds of snow geese preparing for their great fall flight are a sight to behold. The trail is open year round for winter walkers and adventurous fatbikers.

Lagabière is a craft brewery in Vieux-Saint-Jean. Nearby, you’ll find a bistro with a small outdoor patio facing the rivière Richelieu where you can grab a beer made in Haut-Richelieu. A small pizza on naan bread, classic poutine or nachos with the works all go great with one of their beers. They’re a perfect pairing! The brewery recently opened a new beer-making plant.
