20th season opening for the ASIC Droulers/Tsiionhiakwatha

Despite a late season opening, Droulers/Tsiionhiakwatha Archaeological Site Interpretation Center is glad to welcome visitors for a 20th consecutive year from June 13th to September 20th.

Strengthened by its reputation, the center welcomed almost 175 000 visitors since its opening. In 2019, more than 15 000 visitors walked through the center’s door, including almost 10 000 students from Québec, Ontario and New-York State who came to develop their Social Sciences lessons thanks to an immersion in the Iroquoian culture, during a field trip recommended by the ministry of Education.

The ASIC and its dynamic crew are committed to their visitors’ well-being and are taking all the necessary actions in these times of adaptation to provide a quality experience while ensuring everyone’s safety. The ASIC has to adapt its normal activities this year but invite you to come visit the site through a « hunt and find » game. Guides will be present all along the course to inform you. Even though public archaeological excavations cannot take place this year, our achaeologist will make a cataloguing demonstration on the 8-9-15th and 16th of August with the artefacts that have been discovered during the 2019’s excavations and will gladly answer all your questions.

National historical site, officially recognized as a museum, Tsiionhiakwatha is a must in the Haut-Saint-Laurent and Montérégie tourism offer. It is an example of success in a rural area of cultural tourism development at the national level and also an example of a social and economical partnership between First-Nations (Mohawks) and non-first nations. For 20 years, the museum has been jointly administered by the Mohawks and the Haut-Saint-Laurent’s community in an educational and héritage préservation purpose. We look forward to seeing you this summer for a time travel at 1800 chemin Leahy, Saint-Anicet!
