6 things to do with your family over March Break

With the school break just around the corner, do you need some ideas to keep your kids entertained? Here are 6 suggestions. Whatever you’re looking for—movement, fun, culture—Montérégie has it!

1) Visit a museum

History, art and science buffs will be happy to know that most museums in Québec and the Montérégie region have reopened, and there’s something for everyone!

Just pick what you like and book online:

Science, technology and nature: Beauharnois Generating Station, the Électrium–Hydro-Québec’s Electricity Interpretation Centre, Biophare

Archeology/history/indigenous history: Musée d’archéologie de Roussillon; La Maison amérindienne; Exporail, the Canadian Railway Museum

Heritage/arts/history: Musée de société des Deux-Rives (MUSO), Musée régional de Vaudreuil-Soulanges, Musée du Haut-Richelieu, Musée des beaux-arts de Mont-Saint-Hilaire, Maison nationale des Patriotes

2) Play in the trees at Arbraska Mont-Saint-Grégoire

Open over March Break, Arbraska Mont-Saint-Grégoire offers thrilling adventures on its various aerial courses. Suspension bridges, climbing nets, walkways and swings: a must for your adventurous kids!

*Besides March Break, Arbraska Mont-Saint-Grégoire is open every weekend. The course takes about 3.5 hours and the minimum age is 5. Reservations required.

3) Enjoy an avian adventure at Chouette à voir!’s Journées Blanches!

From February 27 to March 7, Chouette à voir! is opening its doors for Journées blanches. You can see their beautiful birds of prey in the aviary along the 2.5 km nature tail. Don’t miss your chance! This is the only time you can visit in winter.

*Open 10:00 a.m. to 12 p.m. or 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Reservations required.

4) Support sugar shacks while satisfying your sweet tooth

Many Montérégie sugar shacks are offering seasonal meals to go and even on-site activities. March Break is the just perfect time to support the region’s sugar bushes and get a well-deserved break from cooking!

5) Hit the slopes

Skiing and snowboarding enthusiasts can enjoy a just perfect day at Mont Rigaud and Ski Saint-Bruno. Little ones will love gliding through the Enchanted Forest, a glade run filled with colourful characters, light effects and music. Beginners will enjoy trying out their techniques on the SKIGO self-learning ski course. They can also book a private lesson with an instructor. And that’s not all! Mont Rigaud also offers an 8-km trail for those who love Nordic skiing, snowshoeing or fat bike.

6) Enjoy winter in the region’s parks

If you’ve got cabin fever, throw on some warm clothes and hit up one of Montérégie’s parks to recharge your batteries in the great outdoors. Here are some suggestions:

Activities: hiking, downhill skiing, snowshoeing, snow tubing, skating (ice ring)

Free entry for Saint-Lazare and Des Cèdres residents. Skis, boots, poles, snowshoes and sleds available to rent. Tubes are included in the day pass.

Activities: hiking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, skating, sliding

Free entry. Snowshoes, skates and sliding tubes available to rent.
