Salaberry-de-Valleyfield: a Dog-Friendly Destination

No need to leave your four-legged friend at home for a weekend getaway. In Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, planning a trip with your dog is almost as easy as planning a romantic escape. The proof? Destination Salaberry has recently earned a Toutourisme Québec certification, recognizing it as a dog-friendly destination.

Stay at a Dog-Friendly Hotel

Every great getaway with your dog starts with a comfortable place to stay. Hôtel MOCO, one of the few dog-friendly hotels in the region, offers its thoughtfully designed Toutou Package. It includes a cozy dog bed, food and water bowls with a mat, a signature MOCO bandana, and a welcome bag of treats. The package is available for one dog under 50 lb per room, with a $75 fee per stay.

Enjoy a Meal on a Pet-Friendly Patio

No dog-friendly outing is complete without a stop on a patio. Several restaurants and cafés welcome four-legged companions, including Meraki Cuisine Méditéranéenne, McBroue Resto-Pub, Petit Pois, La Petite Grange, Le Club Social Valleyfield, Pub Café La Maîtresse, Chocolatier Giroux, Microbrasserie du Vieux-Canal and La Nouvelle-Orléans.

For a sweet treat, stop by La Lèche Crème or O’Larock glacé, where you’ll find frozen snacks made especially for dogs. Since pet policies vary from one business to another, it’s always a good idea to check in advance before your visit.

Get Active Together

What truly sets Salaberry-de-Valleyfield apart is its variety of unique dog-friendly activities. Découverte Nature Kayak offers guided trips along the Saint-Charles River, where your dog can hop in the kayak with you every weekend throughout the summer.

Looking to catch the breeze instead? Académie Voile Aventure offers private sailing lessons on Lake Saint-François for couples and families—and your dog is welcome to come along.

If you’re looking for a more relaxed outing, take a stroll along the scenic waterfront at Parc Delpha-Sauvé or the Vieux-Canal promenade. The off-leash dog parks on Victoria Street East and at Parc des Bâtisseurs also provide plenty of space for dogs to run, play, and socialize.
