Beloeil

Plateau Michel-Brault is a public space with an artistic element that honours this filmmaker, director and director of photography who lived in Beloeil. It also has different landscape features that reflect the artist’s tastes. This public square was created as a place of to relax, meditate, meet and converse with friends and find entertainment. The fountain adds to the square’s peaceful nature.

On Plateau Michel-Brault, you’ll also find an artwork made up of three stainless steel light frames of various widths, which “frame” the images. These three arches represent the three main frame formats used since the dawn of cinema. Short and feature-length films are screened on summer evenings.

Located in Vieux-Belœil, Saint-Matthieu church was built in 1896 based on the plans of architect L.-Z. Gauthier.
The gorgeous medallions of the evangelists were designed and painted by church decorator T.-X. Renaud in 1910.

As soon as you enter, you’ll notice the interesting music and the impressively high altar all lit up for the occasion. The understated decor includes one-of-a-kind works of art, such as the paintings on the vault, symbols of the Christian faith and the sculpture of Mother Marie-Rose (Eulalie Durocher). As you look up at the loft over the rood screen, you’ll see the Casavant organ.

Guided tours of Saint-Matthieu church are available on Thursday and Friday afternoons in the summer, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Group tours are available year-round (reservations required). Admission is free.

Breakfast and lunch is served from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday to Sunday. The restaurant also serves dinner, by reservation, for groups of 25 to 30 people. And you can bring your own wine.
