About the circuit

The vast majority of family-friendly loop follows the Route Verte. Cyclists will be treated to magnificent bike paths surrounded by nature. Top off your bike trip with cultural and culinary experiences at the local tourism destinations. This calm and safe route offers several options for you to extend your trip by taking any one of the bike paths that branch off from it. Enjoy your visit to Montérégie!

Recommended starting points : Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu or Granby

Day 1 – Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu to Granby via Farnham – 50 km

Take La Montérégiade bike path.

Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu (Old Saint-Jean)

Vieux-Saint-Jean (restaurants, cafés, microbrewery, boutiques, etc), Musée du Haut-Richelieu (museum),Fort Saint-Jean Museum, Public market, Domaine Trinity.

Nearby attractions: Vignoble Le Mas des Patriotes (vineyard), Fromagerie Au gré des champs (cheese factory), Fleurs et feuilles gourmandes (Flower garden), Domaine Berthiaume (microbrewery).

(After 20 km ) Attractions in Farnham : Fromagerie des Cantons (Cheese factory), Farnham Ale & Lager Microbrewery, Nature Center, and much more!

(After 50 km) Arriving in Granby : Boivin Lake, ARTRIA (Sculptures), Centre d’interprétation du lac Boivin (Conservation site), Podcast : Granby 100 ans d’histoire, restaurants, cafes, ice cream, microbreweries, boutiques, etc.

Day 2 – Granby to Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu via Rougemont and Chambly – 75 km

Ride along La Route des Champs (90% paved) and the Chambly Canal National Historic Site path (stone dust). Cyclists who prefer an asphalt surface can opt instead for Route 223 (instead of the Chambly Canal path) between Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu and Chambly. You can split this section into two days by adding a night in Rougemont or Marieville.

La Route des Champs bike path is especially stunning in springtime with its apple blossoms, and in fall with the colourful leaves of Mont Rougemont and Yamaska! The Chambly Canal Historic Site path winds alongside the Chambly Canal and the Rivière Richelieu. Enjoy magnificent viewpoints all along the path and marvel at the many birds. Be sure to stop at the locks to watch the boats pass through!

(After 35 km) Rougemont : Take Petite Caroline street in Rougemont to discover vineyards et ciders (Cidrerie Michel Jodoin, Vignoble et cidrerie Coteau Rougemont, Domaine Cartier-Potelle (vineyard and cider), Potager Mont-Rouge Halte gourmande (handmade gourmet products, etc.)

(After 45 km) Chambly : Fort-Chambly national historical site, Podcast : Chambly une histoire à raconter, Centre nautique Gervais Désourdy (watersport rentals), Cruise on Chambly 1, Ferme Guyon (Handmade products, food, Quebec’s products, beers and wines), restaurants, cafes, Ice cream, microbreweries, boutiques, etc. Take a break at the Information Center!
